Can bearded dragons eat carrots? Yes, bearded dragons can eat carrots. Carrots are a great source of nutrition and vitamins, especially Vitamin A and Beta-carotene which is great for bearded dragons. However, you need to be very careful with feeding carrots to your bearded dragon if it is also getting Vitamin A supplements. Because feeding your bearded dragon both Vitamin A supplement and Carrots can cause Vitamin A toxicity. So, if your bearded dragon is receiving Vitamin A as a supplement, you should be careful with feeding anything that is rich in Vitamin A (like carrots).

Things to Avoid When Feeding Your Bearded Dragon Carrots
DON’T use baby carrots. While this is not always the case but most of the times preservatives are used to keep baby carrots appearing fresh. These preservatives are harmful for bearded dragons. To avoid any preservatives, always go for a fresh whole carrot.
How to Prepare Carrots for Bearded Dragons?
A cheese grater with a medium size grate are some of the best tools you can use to prepare carrots for bearded dragons to consume. The cheese grater will make the tedious work an easy job.
Cut the carrot into longer stringy stands no more than a 1.5 inches long. Avoid cutting into any other shapes as it will become difficult for your beardie to swallow.
How Often to Feed Your Dragon Carrots?
Carrots aren’t really a staple to dragon’s diets. Because out in the wild, we don’t think they would come across any carrots. So, you don’t need to feed your bearded dragon carrots on regular basis. You can feed them carrots about 5 to 7 times a month. This way they will get plenty of additional nutritional value carrots provide without going overboard.
Truthfully, carrots don’t offer any great risk of toxicity for your bearded dragon, and you could technically feed them carrots in every salad without harm. But it can be harmful if they are getting Vitamin A supplement as it will cause Vitamin A toxicity.
